Grade 3 | 2026

📖 1. What is Narrative Writing?

Narrative = Story

A narrative tells a story with a beginning, middle, and end. It has characters, a setting, and a problem/solution.

Good narratives have: Characters + Setting + Problem + Solution = Great Story!

🏗️ 2. Story Structure

The Beginning

Introduce: Characters, Setting, and the Situation

"Once upon a time, in a small village near the forest, lived a brave young girl named Lily."
Write your beginning: Who is your character? Where are they?

The Middle (The Problem)

Include: A problem or challenge for your character

"One day, Lily discovered that the forest animals were sad. The evil witch had cast a spell."
What problem will your character face?

The End (The Solution)

Show: How the problem is solved

"Lily sang a beautiful song. The magic broke the witch's spell. Flowers bloomed everywhere!"
How does your character solve the problem?
