📝 1. What is Persuasive Writing?

Purpose

Persuasive writing tries to convince the reader to agree with your opinion or take action.

State your opinion clearly. Support it with reasons and evidence!

Structure

  1. Introduction: Hook + Your opinion (thesis)
  2. Body Paragraph 1: Reason 1 + Evidence
  3. Body Paragraph 2: Reason 2 + Evidence
  4. Body Paragraph 3: Reason 3 + Evidence
  5. Conclusion: Restate opinion + Summary + Call to action

✍️ 2. Persuasive Language

Opinion Words

Use these to state your position:

"I believe that schools should have longer breaks because..."

Emotive Language

Words that create feelings:

"This is an amazing opportunity!" vs "This is a good opportunity."

Facts vs Opinions

Fact: Can be proven true or false (The sky is blue.)

Opinion: What someone thinks (Blue is the best color.)
